Owen has been described as a “virtuosic soloist” (The Telegraph) whose tone has a “rich sonority” (The Times) and whose performances are “remarkable” (Dublin Tribune) 

 

Owen has occupied some of the most prestigious orchestral positions in London; these include the London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Brass and the Fine Arts Brass Ensemble. He now resides with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and is a professor of Tuba at the Royal College of Music. 

From solo, to film and television work, Owen has played at the highest levels; he has had the privilege of collaborating with artists such as Joni Mitchell, Herbie Hancock, Peter Erskine and Vince Mendoza. Owen has played on countless film scores including; Gladiator, Lord of the Rings, the Harry Potter movies and Mission Impossible. 

One of the highlights of Owen’s career was the world premier of Sir Harrison Birtwistle’s “Cry of Anubis” for Tuba and Orchestra - a concerto written specifically for Owen.  

 

Owen’s performances are “awesome and masterful”, (- International Tuba and Euphonium association).
